Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.”


And you, Pashhur, and all who dwell in your house, shall go into captivity. To Babylon you shall go, and there you shall die, and there you shall be buried, you and all your friends, to whom you have prophesied falsely.”


They say continually to those who despise the word of the Lord, ‘It shall be well with you’; and to everyone who stubbornly follows his own heart, they say, ‘No disaster shall come upon you.’”


Where are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, ‘The king of Babylon will not come against you and against this land’?


Then I said, “Ah, Lord God, surely you have utterly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, ‘It shall be well with you,’ whereas the sword has reached their very life.”


They have spoken falsely of the Lord and have said, ‘He will do nothing; no disaster will come upon us, nor shall we see sword or famine.


The prophets will become wind; the word is not in them. Thus shall it be done to them!’”
