14 You shall see, and your heart shall rejoice; your bones shall flourish like the grass; and the hand of the Lord shall be known to his servants, and he shall show his indignation against his enemies.

For on the first day of the first month he began to go up from Babylonia, and on the first day of the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, for the good hand of his God was on him.


And by the good hand of our God on us, they brought us a man of discretion, of the sons of Mahli the son of Levi, son of Israel, namely Sherebiah with his sons and kinsmen, 18;


For I was ashamed to ask the king for a band of soldiers and horsemen to protect us against the enemy on our way, since we had told the king, “The hand of our God is for good on all who seek him, and the power of his wrath is against all who forsake him.”


Then we departed from the river Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go to Jerusalem. The hand of our God was on us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy and from ambushes by the way.


The upright see it and are glad, and all wickedness shuts its mouth.


A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.


It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.


Woe to Assyria, the rod of my anger; the staff in their hands is my fury!


They come from a distant land, from the end of the heavens, the Lord and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.


Your dead shall live; their bodies shall rise. You who dwell in the dust, awake and sing for joy! For your dew is a dew of light, and the earth will give birth to the dead.


Come, my people, enter your chambers, and shut your doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until the fury has passed by.


Behold, the name of the Lord comes from afar, burning with his anger, and in thick rising smoke; his lips are full of fury, and his tongue is like a devouring fire;


Behold Zion, the city of our appointed feasts! Your eyes will see Jerusalem, an untroubled habitation, an immovable tent, whose stakes will never be plucked up, nor will any of its cords be broken.


For the Lord is enraged against all the nations, and furious against all their host; he has devoted them to destruction, has given them over for slaughter.


it shall blossom abundantly and rejoice with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, the majesty of Carmel and Sharon. They shall see the glory of the Lord, the majesty of our God.


that they may see and know, may consider and understand together, that the hand of the Lord has done this, the Holy One of Israel has created it.


The Lord goes out like a mighty man, like a man of war he stirs up his zeal; he cries out, he shouts aloud, he shows himself mighty against his foes.


And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.


According to their deeds, so will he repay, wrath to his adversaries, repayment to his enemies; to the coastlands he will render repayment.


Hear the word of the Lord, you who tremble at his word: “Your brothers who hate you and cast you out for my name’s sake have said, ‘Let the Lord be glorified, that we may see your joy’; but it is they who shall be put to shame.


Then Ephraim shall become like a mighty warrior, and their hearts shall be glad as with wine. Their children shall see it and be glad; their hearts shall rejoice in the Lord.


Then once more you shall see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve him.


So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.


but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries.
