11 In that day the Lord will extend his hand yet a second time to recover the remnant that remains of his people, from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from Cush, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the coastlands of the sea.

The beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.


The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram.


And as people migrated from the east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there.


In the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goiim,


The name of the second river is the Gihon. It is the one that flowed around the whole land of Cush.


And the king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, Cuthah, Avva, Hamath, and Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the people of Israel. And they took possession of Samaria and lived in its cities.


King Ahasuerus imposed tax on the land and on the coastlands of the sea.


The Lord said, “I will bring them back from Bashan, I will bring them back from the depths of the sea,


If the Lord of hosts had not left us a few survivors, we should have been like Sodom, and become like Gomorrah.


In that day the remnant of Israel and the survivors of the house of Jacob will no more lean on him who struck them, but will lean on the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.


Is not Calno like Carchemish? Is not Hamath like Arpad? Is not Samaria like Damascus?


And there will be a highway from Assyria for the remnant that remains of his people, as there was for Israel when they came up from the land of Egypt.


And the Lord will make himself known to the Egyptians, and the Egyptians will know the Lord in that day and worship with sacrifice and offering, and they will make vows to the Lord and perform them.


And the Lord will strike Egypt, striking and healing, and they will return to the Lord, and he will listen to their pleas for mercy and heal them.


A stern vision is told to me; the traitor betrays, and the destroyer destroys. Go up, O Elam; lay siege, O Media; all the sighing she has caused I bring to an end.


And Elam bore the quiver with chariots and horsemen, and Kir uncovered the shield.


Therefore in the east give glory to the Lord; in the coastlands of the sea, give glory to the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.


And the surviving remnant of the house of Judah shall again take root downward and bear fruit upward.


Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise from the end of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that fills it, the coastlands and their inhabitants.


Let them give glory to the Lord, and declare his praise in the coastlands.


He will not grow faint or be discouraged till he has established justice in the earth; and the coastlands wait for his law.


Thus says the Lord: “The wealth of Egypt and the merchandise of Cush, and the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over to you and be yours; they shall follow you; they shall come over in chains and bow down to you. They will plead with you, saying: ‘Surely God is in you, and there is no other, no god besides him.’”


Behold, these shall come from afar, and behold, these from the north and from the west, and these from the land of Syene.”

The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Judeans who lived in the land of Egypt, at Migdol, at Tahpanhes, at Memphis, and in the land of Pathros,


Concerning Damascus: “Hamath and Arpad are confounded, for they have heard bad news; they melt in fear, they are troubled like the sea that cannot be quiet.


Of oaks of Bashan they made your oars; they made your deck of pines from the coasts of Cyprus, inlaid with ivory.


and I will restore the fortunes of Egypt and bring them back to the land of Pathros, the land of their origin, and there they shall be a lowly kingdom.


I will make Pathros a desolation and will set fire to Zoan and will execute judgments on Thebes.


“Elam is there, and all her multitude around her grave; all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who went down uncircumcised into the world below, who spread their terror in the land of the living; and they bear their shame with those who go down to the pit.


After many days you will be mustered. In the latter years you will go against the land that is restored from war, the land whose people were gathered from many peoples upon the mountains of Israel, which had been a continual waste. Its people were brought out from the peoples and now dwell securely, all of them.


And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with some of the vessels of the house of God. And he brought them to the land of Shinar, to the house of his god, and placed the vessels in the treasury of his god.


Afterward he shall turn his face to the coastlands and shall capture many of them, but a commander shall put an end to his insolence. Indeed, he shall turn his insolence back upon him.


And I saw in the vision; and when I saw, I was in Susa the citadel, which is in the province of Elam. And I saw in the vision, and I was at the Ulai canal.


And the children of Judah and the children of Israel shall be gathered together, and they shall appoint for themselves one head. And they shall go up from the land, for great shall be the day of Jezreel.


They shall go after the Lord; he will roar like a lion; when he roars, his children shall come trembling from the west;


they shall come trembling like birds from Egypt, and like doves from the land of Assyria, and I will return them to their homes, declares the Lord.


In that day they will come to you, from Assyria and the cities of Egypt, and from Egypt to the River, from sea to sea and from mountain to mountain.


The Lord will be awesome against them; for he will famish all the gods of the earth, and to him shall bow down, each in its place, all the lands of the nations.


He said to me, “To the land of Shinar, to build a house for it. And when this is prepared, they will set the basket down there on its base.”


Thus says the Lord of hosts: Behold, I will save my people from the east country and from the west country,


and on Hamath also, which borders on it, Tyre and Sidon, though they are very wise.


For if their rejection means the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance mean but life from the dead?


And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written, “The Deliverer will come from Zion, he will banish ungodliness from Jacob”;


But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed.


For they are your people and your heritage, whom you brought out by your great power and by your outstretched arm.’
