When Abram was ninety-nine years old the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless,


So she quickly emptied her jar into the trough and ran again to the well to draw water, and she drew for all his camels.


But he said to me, ‘The Lord, before whom I have walked, will send his angel with you and prosper your way. You shall take a wife for my son from my clan and from my father’s house.


So he came near and kissed him. And Isaac smelled the smell of his garments and blessed him and said, “See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field that the Lord has blessed!


and prepare for me delicious food, such as I love, and bring it to me so that I may eat, that my soul may bless you before I die.”


Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat and clothing to wear,


and this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, shall be God’s house. And of all that you give me I will give a full tenth to you.”


God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and multiply you, that you may become a company of peoples.


Then let us arise and go up to Bethel, so that I may make there an altar to the God who answers me in the day of my distress and has been with me wherever I have gone.”


the angel who has redeemed me from all evil, bless the boys; and in them let my name be carried on, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.”


“Joseph is a fruitful bough, a fruitful bough by a spring; his branches run over the wall.


yet his bow remained unmoved; his arms were made agile by the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob (from there is the Shepherd, the Stone of Israel),


All these are the twelve tribes of Israel. This is what their father said to them as he blessed them, blessing each with the blessing suitable to him.


These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation. Noah walked with God.


And Solomon said, “You have shown great and steadfast love to your servant David my father, because he walked before you in faithfulness, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart toward you. And you have kept for him this great and steadfast love and have given him a son to sit on his throne this day.


The sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel (for he was the firstborn, but because he defiled his father’s couch, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph the son of Israel, so that he could not be enrolled as the oldest son;


I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.


The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.


Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.


Go and gather the elders of Israel together and say to them, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, has appeared to me, saying, “I have observed you and what has been done to you in Egypt,


“that they may believe that the Lord, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.”


Sweet is the sleep of a laborer, whether he eats little or much, but the full stomach of the rich will not let him sleep.


Behold, what I have seen to be good and fitting is to eat and drink and find enjoyment in all the toil with which one toils under the sun the few days of his life that God has given him, for this is his lot.


All the toil of man is for his mouth, yet his appetite is not satisfied.


And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.


he will dwell on the heights; his place of defense will be the fortresses of rocks; his bread will be given him; his water will be sure.


And they shall be spread before the sun and the moon and all the host of heaven, which they have loved and served, which they have gone after, and which they have sought and worshiped. And they shall not be gathered or buried. They shall be as dung on the surface of the ground.


And they were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and statutes of the Lord.


So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.


For our boast is this, the testimony of our conscience, that we behaved in the world with simplicity and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God, and supremely so toward you.


This is the blessing with which Moses the man of God blessed the people of Israel before his death.


Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him,


we exhorted each one of you and encouraged you and charged you to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory.


By faith Jacob, when dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, bowing in worship over the head of his staff.
