14 So Lot went out and said to his sons-in-law, who were to marry his daughters, “Up! Get out of this place, for the Lord is about to destroy the city.” But he seemed to his sons-in-law to be jesting.

As morning dawned, the angels urged Lot, saying, “Up! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be swept away in the punishment of the city.”


And as they brought them out, one said, “Escape for your life. Do not look back or stop anywhere in the valley. Escape to the hills, lest you be swept away.”


Escape there quickly, for I can do nothing till you arrive there.” Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.


So the couriers went from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh, and as far as Zebulun, but they laughed them to scorn and mocked them.


But they kept mocking the messengers of God, despising his words and scoffing at his prophets, until the wrath of the Lord rose against his people, until there was no remedy.


Then he summoned Moses and Aaron by night and said, “Up, go out from among my people, both you and the people of Israel; and go, serve the Lord, as you have said.


but whoever did not pay attention to the word of the Lord left his slaves and his livestock in the field.


He who is often reproved, yet stiffens his neck, will suddenly be broken beyond healing.


Now therefore do not scoff, lest your bonds be made strong; for I have heard a decree of destruction from the Lord God of hosts against the whole land.


O Lord, you have deceived me, and I was deceived; you are stronger than I, and you have prevailed. I have become a laughingstock all the day; everyone mocks me.


When Jeremiah finished speaking to all the people all these words of the Lord their God, with which the Lord their God had sent him to them,

“Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.”


And he spoke to the congregation, saying, “Depart, please, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest you be swept away with all their sins.”


“Get away from the midst of this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.” And they fell on their faces.


Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.


he said, “Go away, for the girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they laughed at him.


but these words seemed to them an idle tale, and they did not believe them.


While he was coming, the demon threw him to the ground and convulsed him. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit and healed the boy, and gave him back to his father.


Now when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked. But others said, “We will hear you again about this.”


While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
