And he arose and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb, the mount of God.


And when he sent word to Moses, “I, your father-in-law Jethro, am coming to you with your wife and her two sons with her,”


and be ready for the third day. For on the third day the Lord will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.


They set out from Rephidim and came into the wilderness of Sinai, and they encamped in the wilderness. There Israel encamped before the mountain,


The Lord came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain. And the Lord called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.


So Moses rose with his assistant Joshua, and Moses went up into the mountain of God.


Now Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led his flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.


He said, “But I will be with you, and this shall be the sign for you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.”


The Lord said to Aaron, “Go into the wilderness to meet Moses.” So he went and met him at the mountain of God and kissed him.
