For there was a command from the king concerning them, and a fixed provision for the singers, as every day required.


You gave them bread from heaven for their hunger and brought water for them out of the rock for their thirst, and you told them to go in to possess the land that you had sworn to give them.


You gave your good Spirit to instruct them and did not withhold your manna from their mouth and gave them water for their thirst.


They asked, and he brought quail, and gave them bread from heaven in abundance.


Yet he commanded the skies above and opened the doors of heaven,


And he cried to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a log, and he threw it into the water, and the water became sweet. There the Lord made for them a statute and a rule, and there he tested them,


When the people of Israel saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, “It is the bread that the Lord has given you to eat.


Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me,


Give us this day our daily bread,


Give us each day our daily bread,


and all ate the same spiritual food,


who fed you in the wilderness with manna that your fathers did not know, that he might humble you and test you, to do you good in the end.


And you shall remember the whole way that the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not.


And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
