I know that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and will execute justice for the needy.


If you see in a province the oppression of the poor and the violation of justice and righteousness, do not be amazed at the matter, for the high official is watched by a higher, and there are yet higher ones over them.


I was angry with my people; I profaned my heritage; I gave them into your hand; you showed them no mercy; on the aged you made your yoke exceedingly heavy.


Now if you are ready when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, bagpipe, and every kind of music, to fall down and worship the image that I have made, well and good. But if you do not worship, you shall immediately be cast into a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you out of my hands?”

“You shall not oppress your neighbor or rob him. The wages of a hired worker shall not remain with you all night until the morning.


“Then I will draw near to you for judgment. I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, against the adulterers, against those who swear falsely, against those who oppress the hired worker in his wages, the widow and the fatherless, against those who thrust aside the sojourner, and do not fear me, says the Lord of hosts.


And those servants went out into the roads and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good. So the wedding hall was filled with guests.


Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy.


But if that wicked servant says to himself, ‘My master is delayed,’


and will cut him in pieces and put him with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.


“So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.


And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.


You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am.


So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality,


To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours:


For he who was called in the Lord as a bondservant is a freedman of the Lord. Likewise he who was free when called is a bondservant of Christ.


For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and takes no bribe.


For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality.


Masters, treat your bondservants justly and fairly, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.


For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.


If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well.


Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, are crying out against you, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.


And Samuel said, “Though you are little in your own eyes, are you not the head of the tribes of Israel? The Lord anointed you king over Israel.
