And Joseph provided his father, his brothers, and all his father’s household with food, according to the number of their dependents.


Thus Israel settled in the land of Egypt, in the land of Goshen. And they gained possessions in it, and were fruitful and multiplied greatly.


The land of Egypt is before you. Settle your father and your brothers in the best of the land. Let them settle in the land of Goshen, and if you know any able men among them, put them in charge of my livestock.”


He was an adversary of Israel all the days of Solomon, doing harm as Hadad did. And he loathed Israel and reigned over Syria.

Then Israel came to Egypt; Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.


“You shall not wrong a sojourner or oppress him, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt.


“You shall not oppress a sojourner. You know the heart of a sojourner, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt.


You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.


“I have loved you,” says the Lord. But you say, “How have you loved us?” “Is not Esau Jacob’s brother?” declares the Lord. “Yet I have loved Jacob


Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom: “Thus says your brother Israel: You know all the hardship that we have met:


Love the sojourner, therefore, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt.


Children born to them in the third generation may enter the assembly of the Lord.
