Then Moses said to the people, “Remember this day in which you came out from Egypt, out of the house of slavery, for by a strong hand the Lord brought you out from this place. No leavened bread shall be eaten.


Strike a scoffer, and the simple will learn prudence; reprove a man of understanding, and he will gain knowledge.


When a scoffer is punished, the simple becomes wise; when a wise man is instructed, he gains knowledge.


“Say to the people of Israel, Any one of the people of Israel or of the strangers who sojourn in Israel who gives any of his children to Molech shall surely be put to death. The people of the land shall stone him with stones.


And the Lord said to Moses, “Take all the chiefs of the people and hang them in the sun before the Lord, that the fierce anger of the Lord may turn away from Israel.”


“If you hear in one of your cities, which the Lord your God is giving you to dwell there,


And all the people shall hear and fear and not act presumptuously again.


And the rest shall hear and fear, and shall never again commit any such evil among you.


Then all the men of the city shall stone him to death with stones. So you shall purge the evil from your midst, and all Israel shall hear, and fear.


As for those who persist in sin, rebuke them in the presence of all, so that the rest may stand in fear.


And Joshua said, “Why did you bring trouble on us? The Lord brings trouble on you today.” And all Israel stoned him with stones. They burned them with fire and stoned them with stones.
