I am a companion of all who fear you, of those who keep your precepts.


And whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy in it and stay there until you depart.


So the saying spread abroad among the brothers that this disciple was not to die; yet Jesus did not say to him that he was not to die, but, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you?”


In those days Peter stood up among the brothers (the company of persons was in all about 120) and said,


And it happened that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the inland country and came to Ephesus. There he found some disciples.


but we sailed away from Philippi after the days of Unleavened Bread, and in five days we came to them at Troas, where we stayed for seven days.


And having sought out the disciples, we stayed there for seven days. And through the Spirit they were telling Paul not to go on to Jerusalem.


And from there we made a circuit and arrived at Rhegium. And after one day a south wind sprang up, and on the second day we came to Puteoli.


And the brothers there, when they heard about us, came as far as the Forum of Appius and Three Taverns to meet us. On seeing them, Paul thanked God and took courage.


And they said to him, “We have received no letters from Judea about you, and none of the brothers coming here has reported or spoken any evil about you.


Therefore, brothers, pick out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint to this duty.


And when the brothers learned this, they brought him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus.


I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that I have often intended to come to you (but thus far have been prevented), in order that I may reap some harvest among you as well as among the rest of the Gentiles.
