4 But in the seventh year Jehoiada sent and brought the captains of the Carites and of the guards, and had them come to him in the house of the Lord. And he made a covenant with them and put them under oath in the house of the Lord, and he showed them the king’s son.

and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and David’s sons were priests.


and King Rehoboam made in their place shields of bronze, and committed them to the hands of the officers of the guard, who kept the door of the king’s house.


As the Lord your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom where my lord has not sent to seek you. And when they would say, ‘He is not here,’ he would take an oath of the kingdom or nation, that they had not found you.


And Jehoiada made a covenant between the Lord and the king and people, that they should be the Lord’s people, and also between the king and the people.


And he took the captains, the Carites, the guards, and all the people of the land, and they brought the king down from the house of the Lord, marching through the gate of the guards to the king’s house. And he took his seat on the throne of the kings.

So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and put in place statutes and rules for them at Shechem.


Then Jonathan made a covenant with David, because he loved him as his own soul.


And the two of them made a covenant before the Lord. David remained at Horesh, and Jonathan went home.
