Thus Jehoshabeath, the daughter of King Jehoram and wife of Jehoiada the priest, because she was a sister of Ahaziah, hid him from Athaliah, so that she did not put him to death.


And he set all the people as a guard for the king, every man with his weapon in his hand, from the south side of the house to the north side of the house, around the altar and the house.


When Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she went into the house of the Lord to the people.


His enemies I will clothe with shame, but on him his crown will shine.”


For you meet him with rich blessings; you set a crown of fine gold upon his head.


He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to teach to their children,


I have found David, my servant; with my holy oil I have anointed him,


You have renounced the covenant with your servant; you have defiled his crown in the dust.


And you shall put into the ark the testimony that I shall give you.

Kings shall be your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers. With their faces to the ground they shall bow down to you, and lick the dust of your feet. Then you will know that I am the Lord; those who wait for me shall not be put to shame.”


Bind up the testimony; seal the teaching among my disciples.


To the teaching and to the testimony! If they will not speak according to this word, it is because they have no dawn.


And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”


But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.


Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.


Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to those who love him?


His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself.


the twenty-four elders fall down before him who is seated on the throne and worship him who lives forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne, saying,


Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and seated on the thrones were twenty-four elders, clothed in white garments, with golden crowns on their heads.


and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.”


Then Samuel took a flask of oil and poured it on his head and kissed him and said, “Has not the Lord anointed you to be prince over his people Israel? And you shall reign over the people of the Lord and you will save them from the hand of their surrounding enemies. And this shall be the sign to you that the Lord has anointed you to be prince over his heritage.


And Samuel said to all the people, “Do you see him whom the Lord has chosen? There is none like him among all the people.” And all the people shouted, “Long live the king!”
