They had gone only a short distance from the city. Now Joseph said to his steward, “Up, follow after the men, and when you overtake them, say to them, ‘Why have you repaid evil for good?


A senseless, a nameless brood, they have been whipped out of the land.


They repay me evil for good; my soul is bereft.


Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil.


Those who render me evil for good accuse me because I follow after good.


If anyone returns evil for good, evil will not depart from his house.


Should good be repaid with evil? Yet they have dug a pit for my life. Remember how I stood before you to speak good for them, to turn away your wrath from them.


Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.


Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger,


Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.


See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone.


For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God’s will, than for doing evil.


Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.


And David said to his men, “Every man strap on his sword!” And every man of them strapped on his sword. David also strapped on his sword. And about four hundred men went up after David, while two hundred remained with the baggage.


Yet the men were very good to us, and we suffered no harm, and we did not miss anything when we were in the fields, as long as we went with them.


And as she rode on the donkey and came down under cover of the mountain, behold, David and his men came down toward her, and she met them.


I hear that you have shearers. Now your shepherds have been with us, and we did them no harm, and they missed nothing all the time they were in Carmel.
