“The man, the lord of the land, spoke roughly to us and took us to be spies of the land.


Joseph saw his brothers and recognized them, but he treated them like strangers and spoke roughly to them. “Where do you come from?” he said. They said, “From the land of Canaan, to buy food.”


And the king answered the people harshly, and forsaking the counsel that the old men had given him,


The poor use entreaties, but the rich answer roughly.


And Jonathan said to David, “Come, let us go out into the field.” So they both went out into the field.


And Jonathan said, “Far be it from you! If I knew that it was determined by my father that harm should come to you, would I not tell you?”


And Nabal answered David’s servants, “Who is David? Who is the son of Jesse? There are many servants these days who are breaking away from their masters.


But one of the young men told Abigail, Nabal’s wife, “Behold, David sent messengers out of the wilderness to greet our master, and he railed at them.


Now therefore know this and consider what you should do, for harm is determined against our master and against all his house, and he is such a worthless man that one cannot speak to him.”
