We have escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped!


He rescued me from my strong enemy and from those who hated me, for they were too mighty for me.


Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.


The wicked watches for the righteous and seeks to put him to death.


for their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed blood.


No wisdom, no understanding, no counsel can avail against the Lord.


no weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.”


What shall I do with you, O Ephraim? What shall I do with you, O Judah? Your love is like a morning cloud, like the dew that goes early away.


When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next, for truly, I say to you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.


But passing through their midst, he went away.


Again they sought to arrest him, but he escaped from their hands.

The next day a harmful spirit from God rushed upon Saul, and he raved within his house while David was playing the lyre, as he did day by day. Saul had his spear in his hand.


And Saul hurled the spear, for he thought, “I will pin David to the wall.” But David evaded him twice.


And Saul listened to the voice of Jonathan. Saul swore, “As the Lord lives, he shall not be put to death.”


But Saul hurled his spear at him to strike him. So Jonathan knew that his father was determined to put David to death.
