25 Now therefore, O Lord, God of Israel, keep for your servant David my father what you have promised him, saying, ‘You shall not lack a man to sit before me on the throne of Israel, if only your sons pay close attention to their way, to walk before me as you have walked before me.’

Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of David his father, only he sacrificed and made offerings at the high places.


you have kept with your servant David my father what you declared to him. You spoke with your mouth, and with your hand have fulfilled it this day.


“And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a whole heart and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches all hearts and understands every plan and thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.


How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.


If your sons keep my covenant and my testimonies that I shall teach them, their sons also forever shall sit on your throne.”
