Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, “Naboth has been stoned; he is dead.”


Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. Now the king had dispatched a man from his presence, but before the messenger arrived Elisha said to the elders, “Do you see how this murderer has sent to take off my head? Look, when the messenger comes, shut the door and hold the door fast against him. Is not the sound of his master’s feet behind him?”


‘As surely as I saw yesterday the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons—declares the Lord—I will repay you on this plot of ground.’ Now therefore take him up and throw him on the plot of ground, in accordance with the word of the Lord.”


But they conspired against him, and by command of the king they stoned him with stones in the court of the house of the Lord.


But stretch out your hand and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face.”

A man who bears false witness against his neighbor is like a war club, or a sword, or a sharp arrow.

And behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, “This man is blaspheming.”


And they began to accuse him, saying, “We found this man misleading our nation and forbidding us to give tribute to Caesar, and saying that he himself is Christ, a king.”


From then on Pilate sought to release him, but the Jews cried out, “If you release this man, you are not Caesar’s friend. Everyone who makes himself a king opposes Caesar.”


For we have found this man a plague, one who stirs up riots among all the Jews throughout the world and is a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.


Then they secretly instigated men who said, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God.”


You shall stone him to death with stones, because he sought to draw you away from the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
