3 But Joab said, “May the Lord add to his people a hundred times as many as they are! Are they not, my lord the king, all of them my lord’s servants? Why then should my lord require this? Why should it be a cause of guilt for Israel?”

And he will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, which he sinned and made Israel to sin.”


Therefore King Jehoash summoned Jehoiada the priest and the other priests and said to them, “Why are you not repairing the house? Now therefore take no more money from your donors, but hand it over for the repair of the house.”


Be strong, and let us use our strength for our people and for the cities of our God, and may the Lord do what seems good to him.”


But the king’s word prevailed against Joab. So Joab departed and went throughout all Israel and came back to Jerusalem.


May the Lord give you increase, you and your children!


“When you take the census of the people of Israel, then each shall give a ransom for his life to the Lord when you number them, that there be no plague among them when you number them.


And Moses said to Aaron, “What did this people do to you that you have brought such a great sin upon them?”


In a multitude of people is the glory of a king, but without people a prince is ruined.


But you have increased the nation, O Lord, you have increased the nation; you are glorified; you have enlarged all the borders of the land.


your offspring would have been like the sand, and your descendants like its grains; their name would never be cut off or destroyed from before me.”


May the Lord, the God of your fathers, make you a thousand times as many as you are and bless you, as he has promised you!


And they came to the people of Reuben, the people of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, in the land of Gilead, and they said to them,


No, my sons; it is no good report that I hear the people of the Lord spreading abroad.
