Lord, I sing songs of praise to you.\par I sing about the wonderful things\par you have done.\par


Then, at the gates of Jerusalem,\par I can sing praises to you, Lord.\par I will be very happy\par because you saved me.”\par


When your children ask you, ‘Why are we doing this ceremony?’


“In the future, your children will ask why you do this. They will say, ‘What does all this mean?’ And you will answer, ‘The Lord used his great power to save us from Egypt. We were slaves in that place. But the Lord led us out and brought us here.


On this day, you should tell your children, ‘We are having this feast because the Lord took me out of Egypt.’


People that are alive—\par like me today—\par are the people that praise you.\par A father should tell his children\par that you can be trusted.\par


You will tell these things to your children.\par Your children will tell their children.\par And your grandchildren will tell\par the people of the next generation.\par


Teach these laws to your children. Talk about these things when you sit in your houses, when you walk on the road, when you lie down, and when you get up.


But you must be careful! Be sure that as long as you live you never forget the things you have seen. You must teach those things to your children and grandchildren.
