“God made people as a copy of himself. So any person who kills a person must be killed by a person.


So why did you ignore the Lord’s command? Why did you do the thing which he says is wrong? You let the Ammonites kill Uriah the Hittite, and you took his wife. In this way, you killed Uriah with a sword.


There was a famine while David was king. This time of hunger continued for three years. David prayed to the Lord, and the Lord answered. The Lord said, “Saul and his family of murderers [119] are the reason for this time of hunger. This famine came because Saul killed the Gibeonites.” (


Later David heard the news. David said, “My kingdom and I are innocent of the death of Abner son of Ner. The Lord knows this.


The bad things that happened to us are our own fault. We have done evil things, and we have much guilt. But you, our God, have punished us much less than we should have been. We have done many terrible sins, and we should have been punished worse. And you have even let some of our people escape captivity.


But God, you were right\par about everything that happens to us.\par You were right.\par And we were wrong.\par


Guide me and teach me your truths.\par You are my God, my Savior.\par I trust you every day.\par


Lord, don’t group me with those sinners.\par Don’t kill me with those murderers.\par


So Lord, I tell people how good you are.\par I praise you every day.\par


Quickly come and help me!\par My God, save me!\par


Give your worries to the Lord,\par and he will care for you.\par The Lord will never let good people\par be defeated.\par

I might say to you, ‘This evil person will die.’ Then you must go warn that person for me. If you don’t warn that evil person and tell him to change his life, then that evil person will die because he sinned. But I will make you responsible for his death.


Lord, stop being angry at Jerusalem. Jerusalem is on your holy mountain. You do the right things, so stop being angry at Jerusalem. People all around us insult us and make fun of your people. This happens because we and our ancestors {\cf2\super [102]} sinned against you.


“Lord, you are good, and goodness belongs to you! But shame belongs to us today. Shame belongs to the people from Judah and Jerusalem. Shame belongs to all the people of Israel—to the people that are near, and to the people that are far away. Lord, you scattered those people among many nations. And the people of Israel in all those nations should be ashamed. They should be ashamed of all the bad things they did against you, Lord.


The people swear, lie, kill, and steal. They do the sin of adultery, {\cf2\super [31]} and they have their babies. The people murder again and again. {\cf2\super [32]}


But I will still be glad in the Lord.\par I will rejoice in God my savior.\par


But the Jews there would not accept Paul’s teaching. They said some very bad things. So Paul shook off the dust from his clothes. {\cf2\super [363]} He said to the Jews, “If you are not saved, it will be your own fault! I have done all I can do! After this, I will go only to non-Jewish people!”


So today I can tell you one thing that I am sure of: God will not blame me if some of you are not saved!


They did not know the way that God makes people right with him. And they tried to make themselves right in their own way. So they did not accept God’s way of making people right.
