Lord, you criticize proud people.\par Bad things will happen to them.\par They refuse to obey your commands.\par


Lord, don’t let me live a lie.\par Guide me with your teachings.\par


The people of Israel turned away from God.\par They turned against him\par just like their fathers did.\par They changed directions like a boomerang. {\cf2\super [452]} \par


I was patient with those people\par for 40 years.\par And I know that they are not faithful.\par Those people refused to follow my teachings.\par


Evil people always want to cause trouble. But people who work for peace will be happy.


The Lord’s power is on this mountain.\par And Moab {\cf2\super [239]} will be defeated.\par The Lord will trample (walk on) the enemy.\par It will be like walking on straw\par in a pile of waste.\par


That man does not know what he is doing. He is confused, so his heart leads him the wrong way. That man can’t save himself. And he can’t see that he is doing wrong. That man will not say, “This statue I am holding is a false god.”


\{He answers,\}\par “I walked in the winepress {\cf2\super [459]} by myself.\par No one helped me.\par I was angry and I walked on the grapes.\par The juice {\cf2\super [460]} splashed on my clothes.\par So now my clothes are dirty.\par


Then you will walk on those evil people—they will be like ashes under your feet. I will make those things happen at that time of judgment.” The Lord All-Powerful said these things!


Some of the people will be killed by soldiers. Other people will be made prisoners and taken to every country. The holy city of Jerusalem will be walked on by non-Jewish people until their time is finished.


You were taught to leave your old self. This means that you must stop living the evil way you lived before. That old self becomes worse and worse, because people are fooled by the evil things they want to do.


Don’t let any person fool you by telling you things that are not true. Those evil things make God angry with the people who don’t obey.


People who are evil and cheat other people will become worse and worse. They will fool other people, but they will also be fooling themselves.


Why do I write to you? Do I write because you don’t know the truth? No! I write this letter because you do know the truth. And you know that no lie comes from the truth.


The grapes were squeezed in the winepress outside the city. Blood flowed out of the winepress. It rose as high as the heads of the horses for a distance of 200 miles.
