Know that the Lord is God.\par He made us.\par We are his people,\par We are his sheep.\par


But I remember the things\par that happened long ago.\par I am thinking about\par the many things you did.\par I am talking about the things you did\par with your great power!\par


God, save your people.\par Bless the people who belong to you.\par Lead them and honor them {\cf2\super [172]} forever!\par


He is our God, and we are his people.\par We are his sheep today—\par if we listen to his voice.\par


Also, how will we know if you are pleased with me and these people? If you go with us, then we will know for sure! If you don’t go with us, then I and these people will be no different than any other people on the earth.”


Many of my people are now lost in Assyria. {\cf2\super [255]} Some of my people have run away to Egypt. But at that time, a great trumpet will be blown. And all those people will come back to Jerusalem. Those people will bow down before the Lord on that holy mountain.


The desert will be full of growing flowers and will begin to show its happiness. It will seem like the desert is dancing with joy. The desert will be beautiful like the forest of Lebanon, {\cf2\super [327]} the hill of Carmel, {\cf2\super [328]} and Sharon Valley. {\cf2\super [329]} This will happen because all people will see the Glory of the Lord. {\cf2\super [330]} People will see the beauty of our God.


You sent your officers\par to insult the Lord my Master.\par You said,\par ‘\{I am very powerful!\}\par I have many, many chariots. {\cf2\super [354]} \par \{With my power I defeated Lebanon.\}\par I climbed the highest mountains\par of Lebanon. {\cf2\super [355]} \par I cut down all the great trees (armies)\par of Lebanon.\par I have been to the highest mountain\par and into the deepest part of that forest.\par


The Lord will lead his people\par like a shepherd leads sheep.\par The Lord will use his arm (power)\par and gather his sheep together.\par The Lord will pick up the little sheep\par and hold them in his arms.\par Their mothers will walk beside him.\par


The people will not be hungry.\par They will not be thirsty.\par The hot sun and wind will not hurt them.\par Why? Because God comforts them\par and God will lead them.\par He will lead them near springs of water.\par


Then Sharon Valley {\cf2\super [470]} will be a field for sheep. The Valley of Achor {\cf2\super [471]} will be a place for cattle to rest. All these things will be for my people—the people that look for me.


“There is a nation that feels safe.\par That nation feels secure.\par That nation does not have gates\par or fences to protect it.\par No people live near them.\par


Jerusalem thinks back.\par Jerusalem remembers the time\par when she was hurt\par and when she lost her home.\par She remembers all the nice things\par that she had in the past.\par She remembers those nice things\par that she had in the old days.\par She remembers when her people\par were captured by the enemy.\par She remembers when there was no person\par to help her.\par When her enemies saw her, they laughed.\par They laughed because she was destroyed.\par


Bring us back to you, Lord.\par We will gladly come back to you.\par Make our lives like they were before.\par


I will give you many people and animals. And they will grow and have many children. I will bring people to live on you like in the past. I will make it better for you than before. Then you will know that I am the Lord.


“{The priests will} take every tenth animal from a person’s cows or sheep. Every tenth animal will belong to the Lord.


“David’s tent {\cf2\super [118]} has fallen,\par but at that time,\par I will set his tent up again.\par I will fix the holes in the walls.\par I will build the ruined buildings again.\par I will build it like it was before.\par


Then \{the Ruler of Israel\} will stand\par in the power of the Lord and\par in the wonderful name\par of the Lord his God\par and feed \{the flock\}.\par They will live \{in peace\}\par because at that time, his greatness\par will reach to the ends of the earth. {\cf2\super [62]} \par


The survivors {\cf2\super [22]} of Israel won’t do bad things. They won’t tell lies. They won’t try to trick people with lies. They will be like sheep that eat and lie down in peace—and no one will bother them.”


I will bring them back from Egypt and Assyria. I will bring them to the area of Gilead. And since there will not be enough room, I will also let them live in nearby Lebanon.” (


So I took care of the sheep that had been raised to be killed—those poor sheep. I found two sticks. I called one stick Favor, and I called the other stick Union. Then I began caring for the sheep.


Then the Lord will accept the gifts from Judah and Jerusalem. It will be like in the past. It will be like the time long ago.


I see those people from the mountain. I see them from the high hills. Those people live alone. They are not part of another nation.


The family groups of Reuben and Gad had many, many cows. Those people looked at the land near Jazer and Gilead. They saw that this land was good for their cows.


‘Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,\par you are important among\par the rulers of Judah.\par Yes, a ruler will come from you,\par and that ruler will lead Israel,\par my people.’”\par \i (Micah 5:2)\i0 \par


They don’t belong to the world, the same as I don’t belong to the world.


So Israel will live in safety, Jacob’s well belongs to them. They will get a land of grain and wine. And that land will get plenty of rain.
