Many people call a person”friend.” But it is really hard to find a person that can really be trusted.


John the Baptizer was in prison. He heard about the things Christ was doing. So John sent some of his followers to Jesus.


“When you fast, {\cf2\super [78]} don’t make yourselves look sad. The hypocrites {\cf2\super [79]} do that. Don’t be like the hypocrites. They make their faces look strange to show people that they are fasting. I tell you the truth, those hypocrites already have their full reward.


Jesus answered, “\{When there is a wedding,\} the friends of the bridegroom {\cf2\super [110]} are not sad while he is with them. But the time will come when the bridegroom will leave them. The friends are sad when the bridegroom leaves. Then they will fast. {\cf2\super [111]}


Some of John’s followers had an argument with another Jew. They were arguing about religious washing. {\cf2\super [52]}


The Pharisees {\cf2\super [57]} heard that Jesus was making and baptizing {\cf2\super [58]} more followers than John.
