My message is like a fire.” This message is from the Lord. “It is like a hammer that smashes a rock.

Jesus continued walking by Lake Galilee. He saw two other brothers, James and John, the sons of Zebedee. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee. They were preparing their nets to catch fish. Jesus told the brothers to come with him.

Then James and John, sons of Zebedee, came to Jesus. They said, “Teacher, we want to ask you to do something for us.”

Jesus told Peter, James, and John to come with him. Then Jesus began to be very troubled and full of sorrow.

These are the names of the twelve men Jesus chose: Simon (Jesus gave him the name Peter);

Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot, {\cf2\super [47]}

Jesus let only Peter, James, and John the brother of James go with him.

Six days later Jesus took Peter, James, and John and went up on a high mountain. They were all alone there. While these followers watched him, Jesus was changed.

James and John, the followers of Jesus, saw this. They said, “Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven and destroy those people?” {\cf2\super [176]}

Some of the followers were together. They were Simon Peter, Thomas (called Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the two sons of Zebedee, and two other followers.

During that same time King Herod {\cf2\super [233]} began to persecute {\cf2\super [234]} some of the people that belonged to the church (group of believers).

God’s word {\cf2\super [34]} (message) is alive and working. His word is sharper than the sharpest sword. God’s word cuts all the way into us \{like a sword\}. It cuts deep to the place where the soul and the spirit are joined. God’s word cuts to the center of our joints and our bones. It judges the thoughts and feelings in our hearts.

Then I was told, “You must prophesy {\cf2\super [79]} again about many races of people, many nations, languages, and rulers.”
