15 Later that day, Jesus ate at Levi’s house. There were many tax collectors {\cf2\super [25]} and other bad people eating there with Jesus and his followers. There were many of these people that followed Jesus.

Jesus was walking beside the lake, and he saw a man named Levi, son of Alphaeus. Levi was sitting at his place for collecting taxes. Jesus said to him, “Follow me.” Then Levi stood up and followed Jesus.


The teachers of the law (they were Pharisees {\cf2\super [26]})saw Jesus eating with these tax collectors and other bad people. They asked Jesus’ followers, “Why does he (Jesus) eat with tax collectors and sinners?”


Many tax collectors {\cf2\super [257]} and bad people came to listen to Jesus.


Jesus and the apostles {\cf2\super [115]} came down from the mountain. Jesus stood on a flat place. A large group of his followers were there. Also, there were many people from all around Judea, Jerusalem, and the seacoast cities of Tyre and Sidon. {\cf2\super [116]}
