My best friend ate with me.\par I trusted him.\par But now, even he has turned against me.\par


They were all eating. Then Jesus said, “I tell you the truth. One of you twelve here will soon give me to my enemies.”


I tell you the truth. Nothing will disappear from the law until heaven and earth are gone. The law will not lose even the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter until all has happened.


“When you fast, {\cf2\super [78]} don’t make yourselves look sad. The hypocrites {\cf2\super [79]} do that. Don’t be like the hypocrites. They make their faces look strange to show people that they are fasting. I tell you the truth, those hypocrites already have their full reward.


“When you give to poor people, don’t announce that you are giving. Don’t do like the hypocrites {\cf2\super [73]} do. They blow trumpets before they give so that people will see them. They do that in the synagogues {\cf2\super [74]} and on the streets. They want other people to give honor to them. I tell you the truth. Those hypocrites already have their full reward.


“When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites. {\cf2\super [75]} The hypocrites love to stand in the synagogues {\cf2\super [76]} and on the street corners and pray loudly. They want people to see them pray. I tell you the truth. They already have their full reward.


I tell you the truth. You must accept the kingdom of God like a little child accepts things, or you will never enter it.”


Jesus said, “I tell you the truth. Every person that has left his home, brothers, sisters, mother, father, children, or farm for me and for the Good News {\cf2\super [129]}


In the evening, Jesus went to that house with the twelve apostles. {\cf2\super [201]}


The followers were very sad to hear this. Each follower said to Jesus, “Surely I will not be against you!”


I tell you the truth. I will not drink this wine again until that day when I drink it in the kingdom of God and the wine is new.”


I tell you the truth. The Good News {\cf2\super [195]} will be told to people in all the world. And in every place where the Good News is told, the story of what this woman did will also be told. The thing she has done will be told and people will remember her.”


I tell you the truth. All sins that people do can be forgiven. And all the bad things people say against God can be forgiven.


If any town refuses to accept you or refuses to listen to you, then leave that town. Shake their dust off your feet. {\cf2\super [65]} This will be a warning to them.”


Jesus made a sad sound like he was troubled. He said, “Why do you people ask to see a miracle as proof? I tell you the truth. No proof like that will be given to you.”


Then Jesus said, “I tell you the truth. Some of you people standing here will see the kingdom of God come before you die. The kingdom of God will come with power.”


I tell you the truth. If a person helps you by giving you a drink of water because you belong to the Christ, {\cf2\super [116]} then that person will truly get his reward.


You will be punished for the killing of Abel. {\cf2\super [217]} And you will be punished for the killing of Zechariah. {\cf2\super [218]} Zechariah was killed between the altar and the temple. {\cf2\super [219]} Yes, I tell you that you people that live now will be punished for them all.


Jesus said, “One of you will soon be against me. His hand is by my hand on the table.


Then Jesus said, “I tell you the truth. A prophet {\cf2\super [73]} is not accepted in his own home town.


Jesus also said, “I tell you the truth. You will all see heaven open. You will see ‘angels of God going up and coming down’ {\cf2\super [32]} on the Son of Man. {\cf2\super [33]} ”


“I am not talking about all of you. I know the people I have chosen. But what the Scripture {\cf2\super [208]} said must happen: ‘The man that shared my food has turned against me.’ {\cf2\super [209]}


After Jesus said these things, he felt very troubled. Jesus said openly, “I tell you the truth. One of you will be against me.”


Jesus’ followers all looked at each other. They did not understand who the person was that Jesus was talking about.


Jesus answered, “Will you really give your life for me? I tell you the truth. Before the rooster crows, you will say three times that you don’t know me.”


I tell you the truth. When you were young, you tied your own belt and went where you wanted. But when you are old, you will put out your hands and another person will tie you. That person will lead you where you don’t want to go.”


I tell you the truth. We talk about what we know. We tell about what we have seen. But you people don’t accept what we tell you.


Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth. A person must be born again. If a person is not born again, then that person cannot be in God’s kingdom.”


But Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth. A person must be born from water and the Spirit. {\cf2\super [47]} If a person is not born from water and the Spirit, then he cannot enter God’s kingdom.


But Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth. The Son can do nothing alone. The Son does only what he sees his Father doing. The Son does the same things that the Father does.


Jesus answered, “Why are you looking for me? Are you looking for me because you saw me do miracles {\cf2\super [86]} that prove my power? No! I tell you the truth. You are looking for me because you ate the bread and you were satisfied (full).


Jesus said, “I tell you the truth. Moses was not the one that gave your people bread from heaven. But my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.


I tell you the truth. If a person believes, then that person has life forever.


Then Jesus answered, “I chose all twelve of you. But one of you is a devil.”
