48 He is like a man building a house. He digs deep and builds his house on rock. The floods come, and the water tries to wash the house away. But the flood cannot move the house, because the house was built well (strong).

There is no God except the Lord. There is no Rock [141] except our God.


The Lord is alive. I praise my Rock! [144] God is great! He is the Rock who saves me.


{My enemies were trying to kill me!} Waves of death were crashing around me. I was caught in a flood carrying me to that place of death. [137]


The God of Israel spoke. The Rock of Israel said to me, “The person who rules people fairly, the person who rules with respect for God,


For this reason, God, all your followers should pray to you.\par Your followers should pray even when troubles come like a great flood.\par


\{I may have many enemies,\}\par but God is my fortress. {\cf2\super [365]} \par God saves me.\par God is my place of safety\par high on the mountain.\par Not even great armies can defeat me.\par


Come, let us praise the Lord!\par Let’s shout praises to the Rock, {\cf2\super [525]} \par who saves us.\par


Evil people are destroyed by their trouble. But good people will stand strong forever.


So, trust the Lord always.\par Why? Because in the Lord YAH, {\cf2\super [240]} you have a place of safety forever!\par


Because of those things, the Lord my Master says, “I will put a rock—a cornerstone—in the ground in Zion. {\cf2\super [259]} This will be a very precious stone. {\cf2\super [260]} Everything will be built on this very important rock. Any person that trusts \{in that rock\} will not be disappointed.


Then people in the west\par will fear and respect the Lord’s name.\par People in the east\par will fear and respect His Glory. {\cf2\super [449]} \par The Lord will come quickly like\par a fast flowing river blown by\par a powerful wind from the Lord.\par


But he will destroy completely his enemies.\par He will wash them away like a flood.\par He will chase his enemies\par into the darkness.\par


Every person that comes to me and listens to my teachings and obeys—I will show you what he is like:


But the person that hears my words and does not obey is like a man that does not build his house on rock. When the floods come, the house falls down easily. And the house is completely destroyed.”


“I told you these things so that you can have peace in me. In this world you will have trouble. But be brave! I have defeated the world!”


In those cities Paul and Barnabas made the followers \{of Jesus\} stronger. They helped them to stay in the faith. Paul and Barnabas said, “We must suffer many things on our way into God’s kingdom.”


You believers are like a building that God owns. That building was built on the foundation that the apostles {\cf2\super [15]} and prophets {\cf2\super [16]} prepared. Christ himself is the most important stone {\cf2\super [17]} in that building.


“But Jeshurun [212] became fat and kicked {like a bull}. (Yes, you people were fed well! You became full and fat!) Then he left the God who made him! He ran away from the Rock who saved him.


You left the Rock (God) who made you; you forgot the God who gave you life.


The ‘rock’ of our enemies is not strong like our Rock (the Lord). Even our enemies know that!


But God’s strong foundation {\cf2\super [14]} continues to be the same. These words are written on that foundation: “The Lord knows those people who belong to him.” {\cf2\super [15]} Also, these words are written on that foundation: “Every person who says that he believes in the Lord must stop doing wrong.”


My brothers and sisters, God called you and chose you to be his. Do your best to live in a way that shows you really are God’s called and chosen people. If you do all those things, you will never fall.


Yes, my dear children, live in him. If we do this, we can be without fear (have confidence) on the day when Christ comes back. We will not need to hide and be ashamed when he comes.


There is no Holy God like the Lord. There is no God but you! There is no Rock [20] like our God.
