Then the priest must tear the bird by its wings, but he must not divide the bird {into two parts}. The priest must burn the bird on the altar, on the wood that is on the fire. It is a burnt offering, an offering made by fire. Its smell pleases the Lord.


Aaron’s sons, the priests, must lay the pieces (the head and the fat) on the wood that is on the fire on the altar.


Next, Aaron killed the {animal for the} burnt offering. {The animal was cut into pieces.} Aaron’s sons brought the blood to Aaron. And Aaron sprinkled the blood around on the altar. [109]


Aaron also washed the inside parts and the legs of the burnt offering. And he burned them on the altar.
