It is like the sweet smelling oil\par poured over Aaron’s head,\par running down into his beard\par which flows down\par over his special clothes.\par


Put the clothes on your brother Aaron and his sons. Then pour the special oil on them to make them priests. This will make them holy, and they will serve me as priests.


Take the anointing oil [268] and pour it on Aaron’s head. This will show that Aaron is chosen for this work.


“Pour the oil on Aaron and his sons. This will show that they serve me in a special way. Then they can serve me as priests.


But you must not even leave the entrance of the Meeting Tent. If you leave, then you will die! Why? Because the Lord’s anointing oil [117] is on you.” So Aaron, Eleazar, and Ithamar obeyed Moses.


“If the anointed priest [23] makes a mistake in a way that leaves the people guilty for their sin, then the priest must make an offering to the Lord for his sin. The priest must offer a young bull that has nothing wrong with it. He must offer the young bull to the Lord as a sin offering.


At the time the Lord chose the priests, he commanded the people of Israel to give those parts to the priests. The people must give that share to the priests forever.


Moses took some of the anointing oil [99] and some of the blood that was on the altar. [100] Moses sprinkled some on Aaron and on Aaron’s clothes. Moses sprinkled some on Aaron’s sons that were with Aaron and on their clothes. In this way, Moses made Aaron, his clothes, his sons, and his sons’ clothes holy. [101]
