“I am only a traveler staying in your country. I have no place to bury my wife. Please give me some land so I can bury my wife.”


Jacob said to Pharaoh, “I have had a short life with many troubles. I have lived only 130 years. My father and his ancestors [251] lived to be much older than I am.”


Naboth answered, “I will never give my land to you. This land belongs to my family.”


We are only strangers traveling through\par this world like our ancestors. {\cf2\super [323]} \par Our time on earth is like a passing shadow.\par And we can’t stop it.\par


then I will take the people of Israel out from my land that I gave them. And I will leave this temple {\cf2\super [130]} that I have made holy for my name. I will make this temple something that all the nations will speak evil about.


I am a stranger in this land.\par Lord, don’t hide your teachings from me.\par


The earth and everything on it\par belong to the Lord.\par The world and all its people\par belong to him.\par


Lord, hear my prayer!\par Listen to the words I cry to you.\par Look at my tears.\par I am only a traveler\par passing through this life with you.\par Like all my ancestors, I live here only\par a short time. {\cf2\super [241]} \par


Lord, leave me alone {\cf2\super [242]} \par and let me be happy\par before I am dead and gone.\par


Lord, be kind to your country.\par Jacob’s \{people are exiles {\cf2\super [493]} \par in a foreign country.\}\par Bring the exiles back to their country.\par


So now I tell you to obey my commands. Keep my Agreement. If you do this, then you will be my own special people. The whole world belongs to me. But I am choosing you to be my own special people.


Zipporah became pregnant and had a son. Moses named him Gershom. [14] Moses gave his son this name because Moses was a stranger in a land that was not his own.


That water will spill out of that river and flow into Judah. The water will rise to Judah’s throat—\{it will almost drown Judah\}.


The Levites will not sell or trade any of this land. They will not be able to sell any of this land. They must not cut up this part of the country! Why? Because this land belongs to the Lord—it is very special. It is the best part of the land.


The Israelites will not stay in the Lord’s land. Ephraim will return to Egypt. In Assyria they will eat food that they should not eat.


Then the Lord became excited about his land.\par He felt sorry for his people.\par


I will also gather all the nations together. I will bring all these nations down into Jehoshaphat Valley. {\cf2\super [24]} There I will judge them. Those nations scattered my people, Israel. They forced them to live in other nations. So I will punish those nations. Those nations divided up my land.


You will make the 50th year a special year. You will announce freedom for all the people living in your country. This time will be called ‘Jubilee.’ [424] Each of you will go back to his own property. [425] And each of you will go back to his family.


People might sell their land, but the family will always get their land back.


“The whole world should be happy for God’s people! {Why? Because he helps them}— he punishes people who kill his servants. He gives his enemies the punishment they deserve. And he makes his land and people pure. [217] ”


Dear friends, you are like visitors and strangers \{in this world\}. So I beg you to stay away from the evil things your bodies want to do. These things fight against your soul.
