3 Micah gave the 28 pounds [125] of silver back to his mother. Then she said, “I will give this silver as a special gift to the Lord. I will give it to my son so he can make a statue and cover it with the silver. So now, son, I give the silver back to you.”
3 And when he had restored the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, his mother said, I had wholly dedicated the silver unto the LORD from my hand for my son, to make a graven image and a molten image: now therefore I will restore it unto thee.
3 He restored the 1,100 shekels of silver to his mother, and she said, I had truly dedicated the silver to the Lord from my hand for my son to make a graven image and a molten image; now therefore, I will restore it to you.
3 And he restored the eleven hundred pieces of silver to his mother; and his mother said, I verily dedicate the silver unto Jehovah from my hand for my son, to make a graven image and a molten image: now therefore I will restore it unto thee.
3 When he gave the eleven hundred pieces of silver back to his mother, she said, “I wholeheartedly devote this silver to the LORD, to be made into a sculpted image and a molded image for my son.”
3 Therefore, he restored them to his mother. And she said to him: "I have consecrated and vowed this silver to the Lord, so that my son would receive it from my hand, and would make a molten idol and a graven image. And now I deliver it to you."
3 So he restored them to his mother, who said to him: I have consecrated and vowed this silver to the Lord, that my son may receive it at my hand, and make a graven and a molten god. So now I deliver it to thee.
Manasseh also made a statue of an idol and put it in God’s temple—the very same temple that God had talked about to David and his son Solomon. God had said, “I will put my name in this house and in Jerusalem—the city that I chose from \{all the cities in\} all the family groups—\{and my name will be there\} forever!
“You must not make any idols. [124] Don’t make any statues or pictures of anything up in the sky or of anything on the earth or of anything down in the water.
You have statues covered with silver and gold. Those false gods have made you dirty (sinful). But you will stop serving those false gods. You will throw away those gods like waste and dirty rags. {\cf2\super [280]}

You must smash their altars [71] and break their stone memorials [72] into pieces. You must burn their Asherah poles [73] and cut down the statues of their gods.
‘Cursed is the person that makes a false god and puts it in its secret place. Those false gods are only statues that some worker makes from wood, stone or metal. The Lord hates those things!’
Micah said to his mother, “Do you remember that someone stole 28 pounds [124] of silver from you. I heard you say a curse about that. Well, I have the silver. I took it.”
But Micah gave the silver back to his mother. So she took about 5 pounds [126] of the silver and gave them to a silversmith. [127] The silversmith used the silver to make a statue covered with silver. The statue was put in Micah’s house.
The people of the family group of Dan set up the idol in the city of Dan. They made Jonathan son of Gershom their priest. Gershom was the son of Moses. [140] Jonathan and his sons were priests for the family group of Dan until the time when the Israelite people were taken into captivity.
