Pharisees, you are blind! First make the inside of the cup clean and good. Then the outside of the cup can be truly clean.


When Jesus was leaving, the teachers of the law and the Pharisees {\cf2\super [220]} began to give him much trouble. They tried to make Jesus answer questions about many things.


The Pharisees {\cf2\super [262]} were listening to all these things. The Pharisees criticized Jesus because they all loved money.


But the Pharisees {\cf2\super [137]} and teachers of the law refused to accept God’s plan for themselves; they did not let John baptize them.)


John told them the words of the prophet {\cf2\super [13]} Isaiah:


These men said to John: “You say you are not the Christ. {\cf2\super [15]} You say you are not Elijah {\cf2\super [16]} or the Prophet. {\cf2\super [17]} Then why do you baptize {\cf2\super [18]} people?”


(The Sadducees believe that after people die, they will not live again as an angel or as a spirit. But the Pharisees believe in both.)


These Jews have known me for a long time. If they want to, they can tell you that I was a good Pharisee. {\cf2\super [487]} And the Pharisees obey the laws of the Jewish religion more carefully than any other group of Jewish people.
