Then Jehoahaz begged the Lord to help them. And the Lord listened to him. The Lord had seen the troubles of Israel and how the king of Aram troubled the Israelites.


Jabez prayed to the God of Israel. Jabez said, “I wish you would truly bless me. I wish you would give me more land. Be near me and don’t let anyone hurt me. Then I won’t have any pain.” And God gave Jabez what he asked for.


Manasseh prayed to God and begged God to help him. The Lord heard Manasseh’s begging and felt sorry for him. The Lord let him return to Jerusalem and to his throne. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord was the true God.


“But Job, you should make your heart\par ready to serve only God,\par and you should lift up your hands to \{worship\} him.\par


That person should have enjoyed\par \{talking with\} God All-Powerful.\par That person should have prayed to God\par all the time.\par


That person will pray to God,\par and God will answer his prayer.\par That person will shout with joy\par and worship God.\par He will live a good life again.\par


Those bad people hurt poor people,\par and made them cry to God for help.\par And God hears that cry for help.\par


If you are pure and good,\par then he will quickly come to help you.\par He will give your family back to you.\par


I love it when the the Lord hears\par my prayers.\par


I will give the Lord the things I promised.\par I will go in front of all his people now.\par


God, I made special promises to you.\par And I will do what I promised.\par I will give you my thank offering.\par


God, you heard what I promised to give you.\par But everything your worshipers have comes from you.\par


My followers will call to me for help,\par and I will answer them.\par I will be with them when they have trouble.\par I will rescue them and honor them.\par


If you make a promise to God, then keep your promise. Don’t be slow to do the thing you promised. God is not happy with foolish people. Give God what you promised to give him.


Then you will call to the Lord, and the Lord will answer you. You will shout to the Lord, and he will say, “Here I am.”


Then you people will call my name. You will come to me and pray to me. And I will listen to you.


Salvation comes only from the Lord!\par “Lord, I will give sacrifices to you,\par and I will praise and thank you.\par I will make special promises to you,\par and I will do the things I promise.”\par


“When you make a promise to the Lord your God, don’t be slow to pay all that you promised. Why? Because the Lord your God will demand that you pay it. You will sin if you don’t pay the things you promised.
