²⁴ The commander of the king’s special guards took Seraiah and Zephaniah as prisoners. Seraiah was the high priest, and Zephaniah was the next highest priest. The three doorkeepers were also taken as prisoners.

Nebuzaradan, the commander of the king of Babylon’s special guard, came to Jerusalem. This was on the tenth day of the fifth month, in the 19th year that Nebuchadnezzar was king. {\cf2\super [436]} Nebuzaradan was an important leader in Babylon.

Jeremiah 52:15

Nebuzaradan, the commander, took the rest of the people that were still in Jerusalem {\cf2\super [437]} into captivity. He also carried away those that had surrendered to the king of Babylon earlier. He also carried away the skilled craftsmen that were left in Jerusalem.

Lamentations 4:16

The Lord himself destroyed those people.\par He didn’t look after them anymore.\par He didn’t respect the priests.\par He was not friendly to the elders of Judah.\par
