Nimrod’s kingdom spread from Babylon to Erech, Akkad, and Calneh in the land of Shinar.


Terah took his family and left Ur of Babylonia. [70] They planned to travel to Canaan. Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot (Haran’s son), and his daughter-in-law Sarai (Abram’s wife). They traveled to the city of Haran and decided to stay there.


That is the place where the Lord confused the language of the whole world. So that place is called Babel. [68] So the Lord caused the people to spread out from that place to all the other places on earth.


The Lord’s Spirit spoke through me. His word was on my tongue.


{The king of Assyria took the Israelites out of Samaria.} Then the king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, Cuthah, Avva, Hamath, and Sepharvaim. He put those people in Samaria. Those people took over Samaria and lived in the cities around it.


While that messenger was still speaking, another messenger came. This third messenger said, “The Chaldeans sent three groups of soldiers. They attacked us and took the camels! They killed the servants. I am the only person that escaped. So I came to tell you the news!”


At that time, you will begin to sing this song about the king of Babylon:


\{So the people of Tyre say,\}\par “The people of Babylon will help us!”\par But look at the land of the Chaldeans! {\cf2\super [227]} \par Babylon is not a country now.\par Assyria {\cf2\super [228]} attacked Babylon and built war towers around it.\par The soldiers took everything from\par the beautiful houses.\par Assyria made Babylon\par a place for wild animals.\par They changed Babylon\par into a place of ruins.\par


“But when the 70 years have passed, I will punish the king of Babylon. I will punish the nation of Babylon.” This message is from the Lord. “I will punish the land of the Babylonians for their sins. I will make that land a desert forever.


All nations will serve Nebuchadnezzar and his son and his grandson. Then the time will come for Babylon to be defeated. Many nations and great kings will make Babylon their servant.


Nebuchadnezzar was the king of Babylon. Nebuchadnezzar came to Jerusalem. Nebuchadnezzar surrounded Jerusalem with his army. This happened during the third year that Jehoiakim was king of Judah. {\cf2\super [1]}


So Abraham left the country of Chaldea. {\cf2\super [122]} He went to live in Haran. After Abraham’s father died, God sent him to this place here, where you live now.


No! No prophecy ever came from what a man wanted to say. But people were led by the Holy Spirit {\cf2\super [5]} and spoke things from God.


Then the second angel followed the first angel and said, “She is destroyed! The great city of Babylon is destroyed! She (Babylon) made all the nations drink the wine of her adultery {\cf2\super [101]} and of God’s anger.”
