{Hazael will kill many bad people.} Jehu will kill anyone that escapes from Hazael’s sword. And Elisha will kill anyone that escapes from Jehu’s sword.


The survivors ran away to the city of Aphek. The wall of the city fell on 27,000 of those soldiers. Ben Hadad also ran away to the city. He hid in a room.


Lawmakers, you will have to explain the things you have done. What will you do at that time? Your destruction is coming from a faraway country. Where will you run for help? Your money and your riches will not help you.


\{I see danger for the people living\par in this land.\par I see\} fear, holes, and traps for them.\par


People will hear about danger\par and they will be scared.\par Some of the people will run away.\par But they will fall into holes\par and be trapped.\par Some of those people\par will climb out of the holes,\par but they will be caught in another trap.”\par The flood gates in the sky above will open,\par \{and the floods will begin\}.\par The foundations of the earth will shake.\par


Those idols are worth nothing.\par They are something to make fun of.\par In the time of judgment,\par those idols will be destroyed.\par


No person from the city of Anathoth will be left. No person will survive. I will punish them. I will cause something bad to happen to them.”


“I will soon send for many fishermen to come to this land.” This message is from the Lord. “Those fishermen will catch the people of Judah. After that happens, I will send for many hunters to come to this land. Those hunters {\cf2\super [133]} will hunt the people of Judah on every mountain and hill and in the cracks of the rocks.


“\{I will stop giving my messages to them.\}\par It will be like they must walk in darkness.\par It will be like the road is slippery\par for those prophets and priests.\par And they will fall in that darkness.\par I will bring disaster on them.\par I will punish those prophets and priests.”\par This message is from the Lord.\par


The hired soldiers in Egypt’s army\par are like fat calves.\par They will all turn and run away.\par They will not stand strong\par against the attack.\par Their time of destruction is coming.\par They will soon be punished.\par

We have been frightened.\par We have fallen into a pit.\par We have been hurt bad!\par We have been broken!”\par


The prophet says, “Israel, learn these things: The time of punishment has come. The time has come for you to pay \{for the evil things you did\}.” But the people of Israel say, “The prophet is a fool. This man with \{God’s\} Spirit is crazy.” The prophet says, “You will be punished for your bad sins. You will be punished for your hate.”


You will be like a man\par that escapes a lion\par only to be attacked by a bear!\par You will be like a man\par that goes into the safety of his house,\par leans against the wall,\par and is bitten by a snake!\par


\{Even\} the best of them is like a thorn bush.\par Even the best of them is more crooked\par than a tangled thorn bush.\par
