3 And now the Lord has done everything just as he said he would do. This disaster happened because you people of Judah sinned against the Lord. You people didn’t obey the Lord.
3 Now the LORD hath brought it, and done according as he hath said: because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing is come upon you.
3 Now the Lord has brought it about and has done as He said: [It is] because you [of Judah] have sinned against the Lord and have not obeyed His voice, therefore this thing has come upon you.
3 and Jehovah hath brought it, and done according as he spake: because ye have sinned against Jehovah, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing is come upon you.
3 Now the LORD has made it happen. He has done just as he warned because all of you have sinned against the LORD and haven’t obeyed him. That’s why this has happened to you.
3 and he has brought it. And the Lord has done just as he has spoken. For you have sinned against the Lord, and you have not heeded his voice, and so this word has happened to you.
3 And he hath brought it. And the Lord hath done as he hath said: because you have sinned against the Lord and have not hearkened to his voice, and this word is come upon you.
Then, as soon as our ancestors {\cf2\super [56]} were rested,\par they started doing terrible things again!\par So you let the enemy defeat them\par and punish them.\par They called to you for help,\par and in heaven you heard them\par and helped them.\par You are so kind!\par That happened so many times!\par
The Lord All-Powerful planted you.\par And he said that disaster will come to you.\par Why? Because the family of Israel\par and the family of Judah\par have done evil things.\par They offered sacrifices to Baal.” {\cf2\super [98]} \par And that made me angry!\par
“People from many nations will pass by this city. They will ask one another, ‘Why has the Lord done such a terrible thing to Jerusalem? Jerusalem was such a great city.’
“Jeremiah, go and tell Ebed-Melech, {\cf2\super [332]} the man from Ethiopia, this message: ‘This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of the people of Israel, says: Very soon I will make my messages about this city of Jerusalem come true. My messages will come true through disaster and not good things. You will see everything come true with your own eyes.
All of those bad things happened to you because you made sacrifices to other gods. You sinned against the Lord. You didn’t obey the Lord. You didn’t follow his teachings or the laws he gave you. You didn’t keep your part of the Agreement.” {\cf2\super [360]}
Whoever found my people hurt them.\par And those enemies said,\par ‘We did nothing wrong.’\par Those people sinned against the Lord.\par The Lord was their true resting place.\par The Lord was the God\par that their fathers trusted in.\par
The Lord did what he planned to do.\par He has done what he said he would do.\par He has done what he commanded\par from times of long ago.\par He destroyed, and he had no pity.\par He made your enemies happy\par because of what happened to you.\par He made your enemies strong.\par
But you people are hard and stubborn. You refuse to change. So you are making your own punishment greater and greater. You will get that punishment on the day when God will show his anger. On that day people will see God’s right judgments.
These things the law {\cf2\super [28]} says are for the people that are under the law. This stops all \{Jewish\} people from making excuses and brings the whole world (Jews and non-Jews) under God’s judgment.
The answer will be: ‘The Lord is angry because the people of Israel left the Agreement of the Lord, the God of their ancestors. [194] They stopped following the Agreement that the Lord made with them when he brought them out of Egypt.
