11 There will be sounds of joy and happiness. There will be the happy sounds of a bride and groom. There will be the sounds of people bringing their gifts to the Lord’s temple. {\cf2\super [278]} Those people will say, ‘Praise the Lord All-Powerful! The Lord is good! The Lord’s kindness continues forever!’ The people will say these things because I will again do good things to Judah. It will be like in the beginning.” The Lord said these things.

Praise the Lord.\par Call on his name.\par Tell people about the great things\par the Lord has done.\par


Jehoshaphat encouraged and instructed the people. Then he chose men to be singers to the Lord. Those singers were chosen to give praise to the Lord because he is holy and wonderful. They marched in front of the army and praised the Lord. They sang the song, Praise the Lord, because his love continues forever! {\cf2\super [231]}


Hezekiah said, “Now you people of Judah have given yourselves to the Lord. Come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings to the Lord’s temple. {\cf2\super [360]} ” Then the people brought sacrifices and thank offerings. Any person who wanted to, also brought burnt offerings.


The people who blew the trumpets and the people who sang were like one person. They made one sound when they praised and thanked the Lord. They made a loud noise with the trumpets, cymbals, {\cf2\super [90]} and instruments of music. They sang the song, {\cf2\super [91]} Praise the Lord Because He is Good. His True Love Continues Forever.


All the people of Israel saw the fire come down from heaven. The people of Israel also saw the Glory of the Lord on the temple. They bowed their faces down low to the ground on the pavement. They worshiped and thanked the Lord. They sang the song, The Lord is good. His kindness continues forever. {\cf2\super [120]}


They celebrated the Festival of Unleavened Bread {\cf2\super [41]} with much joy for seven days. The Lord made them very happy because he had changed the attitude of the king of Assyria. {\cf2\super [42]} So the king of Assyria had helped them do the work on God’s temple.


So, on that special day, the priests offered many sacrifices. {\cf2\super [77]} Everyone was very happy. God had made everyone happy. Even the women and children were excited and happy. People far away could hear the happy sounds coming from Jerusalem.


Then all the people went to eat the special meal. They shared their food and drinks. They were very happy and celebrated that special day. They finally understood the lessons from the Lord that the teachers had been trying to teach them.


Praise the Lord!\par Thank the Lord because he is good!\par God’s love is forever!\par

Lord, save us\par and show us that you love us.\par


God will make his people free! And those people will come back to him. The people will be happy when they come into Zion. {\cf2\super [333]} The people will be happy forever. Their happiness will be like a crown on their heads. Their gladness and joy will fill them completely. Sorrow and sadness will be gone far, far away.


The Lord will save his people.\par They will return to Zion {\cf2\super [419]} with joy.\par They will be very, very happy.\par Their happiness will be like\par a crown on their heads forever.\par They will be singing with joy.\par All sadness will be gone far away.\par


\{In the same way,\} the Lord will bless Zion. {\cf2\super [417]} The Lord will feel sorry for her and her people, and he will do a great thing for her. The Lord will change the desert. The desert will become a garden like the garden of Eden. That land was empty, but it will become like the Lord’s Garden. People there will be very, very happy. People there will show their joy. They will sing songs about thanks and victory.


The city guards {\cf2\super [424]} begin shouting.\par They are all rejoicing together!\par Why? Because every one of them\par sees the Lord returning to Zion. {\cf2\super [425]} \par


Jerusalem, your destroyed buildings\par will be happy again.\par You will all rejoice together.\par Why? Because the Lord will be kind\par to Jerusalem.\par The Lord will rescue his people.\par


The Lord All-Powerful, the God of Israel says these things: ‘I will soon stop the sounds of people having fun. I will stop the happy sounds people make during a wedding party. This will happen during your lifetime. I will do these things quickly.’


People will come to Jerusalem from the towns of Judah. People will come to Jerusalem from the little villages that are around it. People will come from the land where the family group of Benjamin lives. {\cf2\super [145]} People will come from the western foothills and from the hill country. And people will come from the Negev. {\cf2\super [146]} All those people will bring burnt offerings, sacrifices, grains offerings, incense, {\cf2\super [147]} and thank offerings. They will bring those offerings and sacrifices to the temple of the Lord.


I will bring an end to the sounds of joy and happiness in those places. There will be no more happy sounds of the brides and bridegrooms. I will take away the sound of people grinding meal. I will take away the light of the lamp.


I will let you find me.” This message is from the Lord. “And I will bring you back from your captivity. I forced you to leave this place. But I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have sent you,”—this message is from the Lord—“and I will bring you back to this place.”


People in those places\par will sing songs of praise.\par And there will be the sound of laughter.\par I will give them many children.\par Israel and Judah will not be small.\par I will bring honor to them.\par No person will look down on them.\par


Do this because the days will come”—this message is from the Lor —“when I will bring my people, Israel and Judah, back from exile.” {\cf2\super [231]} This message is from the Lord. “I will put those people back in the land that I gave to their ancestors. {\cf2\super [232]} Then my people will own that land again.”


People will use their money and buy fields. They will sign and seal their agreements. People will witness the people signing their deeds. {\cf2\super [275]} People will again buy fields in the land where the family group of Benjamin lives. They will buy fields in the area around Jerusalem. They will buy fields in the towns of the land of Judah, in the hill country, in the western foothills, and in the area of the southern desert. That will happen because I will bring your people back home.” This message is from the Lord.


Then maybe I would turn away from Jacob’s {\cf2\super [281]} descendants. {\cf2\super [282]} And then maybe I would not let David’s descendants rule over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. But David is my servant. And I will be kind to those people. And I will again cause good things to happen to those people.”


I will make good things happen to Judah and Israel again. I will make those people strong like in the past.


I will bring my people, Israel,\par back from captivity.\par They will build the ruined cities again.\par And they will live in those cities.\par They will plant fields of grapes,\par and drink the wine they produce.\par They will plant gardens,\par and eat the crops they produce.\par


Salvation comes only from the Lord!\par “Lord, I will give sacrifices to you,\par and I will praise and thank you.\par I will make special promises to you,\par and I will do the things I promise.”\par


The Lord is good.\par He is a safe place to go to\par in times of trouble.\par He takes care of the people who\par trust him.\par


Jerusalem, sing and be happy!\par Israel, shout for joy!\par Jerusalem, be happy and have fun!\par


The people of Ephraim {\cf2\super [26]} will be as happy as soldiers that have too much to drink. Their children will be rejoicing and they, too, will be happy. They will all have a happy time together with the Lord.


The Lord All-Powerful says, “You have special days of sadness and fasting in the fourth month, the fifth month, the seventh month, and the tenth month. {\cf2\super [22]} Those days of sadness must be changed into days of happiness. Those will be good and happy holidays. And you must love truth and peace!”


Everything will be good and beautiful!\par There will be a wonderful crop,\par but it will not be just the food and wine.\par It will be all the young men and women!\par


The bride always belongs to the bridegroom. {\cf2\super [55]} The friend that helps the bridegroom just waits and listens. He’s happy just to hear the bridegroom talk. That’s how I feel now. I’m so happy that he (Jesus) is here.


So through Jesus we should never stop offering our sacrifice to God. That sacrifice is our praise, coming from lips that speak his name.


The light of a lamp will never\par shine in you again.\par The voices of a bridegroom {\cf2\super [140]} and bride\par will never be heard in you again.\par Your merchants {\cf2\super [141]} were the world’s\par great people.\par All the nations were tricked by your magic.\par
