10 “So, Jacob {\cf2\super [237]} my servant, don’t be afraid!”\par This message is from the Lord.\par “Israel, don’t be afraid.\par I will save you from that faraway place.\par You are captives {\cf2\super [238]} in that faraway land,\par But I will save your descendants. {\cf2\super [239]} \par \{I will bring them back\} from that land.\par Jacob will have peace again.\par People will not bother Jacob.\par There will be no enemy to scare my people.\par

After all these things happened, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision. [84] God said, “Abram, don’t be afraid. I will defend you. And I will give you a great reward.”


The Lord will take away your hard work, and he will comfort you. \{In the past,\} you were slaves. Men forced you to do very hard work. But the Lord will end this hard work for you.


There will be no dangers on that road. There will be no lions on that road to hurt people. There will be no dangerous animals on that road. That road will be for the people God saves.


“So don’t be afraid! I am with you. I will gather your children and bring them to you. I will gather them from the east and from the west.


“Jacob, you are my servant. Listen to me! Israel, I chose you. Hear the things I say!


I am the Lord, and I made you. I am the One who made you to be what you are. I have helped you since the time you were in your mother’s body. Jacob, my servant, don’t be afraid. Jeshurun, {\cf2\super [391]} I chose you.


And I am calling a man from the east. That man will be like an eagle. He will come from a faraway country, and he will do the things I decide to do. I am telling you that I will do this, and I will do it. I made him, and I will bring him!


I will do good things! Soon, I will save \{my people\}. I will bring salvation to Zion and to my wonderful Israel.”


“Look! People are coming to me\par from faraway places.\par People are coming to me\par from the north and from the west.\par People are coming to me\par from Aswan in Egypt.”\par


But the Lord says,\par “The prisoners will escape.\par Someone will take those prisoners\par away from the strong soldier.\par \{How will this happen?\}\par I will fight your fights.\par I will save your children.\par


Don’t be afraid!\par You will not be disappointed.\par People will not say bad things against you.\par You will not be embarrassed.\par When you were young, you felt shame.\par But you will forget that shame now.\par You will not remember the shame that\par you felt when you lost your husband.\par


“I sent my sheep (people) to other countries. But I will gather together my sheep that are left. And I will bring them back to their pasture (country). When my sheep are back in their pasture, they will have many children and grow in number.


I will place new shepherds (leaders) over my sheep. Those shepherds will take care of my sheep. And my sheep will not be scared or afraid. None of my sheep will be lost.” This message is from the Lord.


In the time of that good ‘sprout,’\par the people of Judah will be saved.\par And Israel will live in safety.\par This will be his name:\par The Lord is our Goodness. {\cf2\super [182]} \par


But people will say something new. They will say, ‘As surely as the Lord lives, the Lord is the One who brought the people of Israel out of the land of the north. He brought them out of all the countries where he had sent them.’ Then the people of Israel will live in their own land.”


I say this because I know the plans that I have for you.” This message is from the Lord. “I have good plans for you. I don’t plan to hurt you. I plan to give you hope and a good future.


I will let you find me.” This message is from the Lord. “And I will bring you back from your captivity. I forced you to leave this place. But I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have sent you,”—this message is from the Lord—“and I will bring you back to this place.”


In those days, the family of Judah will join the family of Israel. They will come together from a land in the north. They will come to the land I gave to their ancestors. {\cf2\super [18]}


Do this because the days will come”—this message is from the Lor —“when I will bring my people, Israel and Judah, back from exile.” {\cf2\super [231]} This message is from the Lord. “I will put those people back in the land that I gave to their ancestors. {\cf2\super [232]} Then my people will own that land again.”


“This is a very important time for Jacob. {\cf2\super [233]} \par This is a time of great trouble.\par There will never be another time like this.\par But Jacob {\cf2\super [234]} will be saved.\par


At the time of this ‘branch,’ the people of Judah will be saved. The people will live safely in Jerusalem. The branch’s name is: ‘The Lord is Good.’”


So you must bear your shame. You have made your sisters look good compared to you. You have done terrible things, so you should be ashamed.”


You will say, ‘I will go attack that country that has towns without walls (Israel). Those people live in peace. They think they are safe. There are not any walls around the cities to protect them. They don’t have any locks on their gates—they don’t even have gates!


“\{The man in the vision said,\} ‘Daniel, at that time, the great prince (angel) Michael will stand up. Michael is in charge of your people, the Jews. There will be a time of much trouble, the worst time since nations have been on earth. But Daniel, at that time, every one of your people whose name is found written in the book \{of life\} will be saved.


“At that time, I will make an agreement for the Israelites with the animals of the field, with the birds of the sky, and with the crawling things on the ground. I will break the bow, the sword, and weapons of war. \{No weapons will be left\} in that land. I will make the land safe, so the people of Israel can lie down in peace.


I will make you my faithful bride. Then you will truly know the Lord.


Judah, there is also a time of harvest for you.\par It will happen at the time that I bring\par


Land, don’t be afraid.\par Be happy and full of joy.\par The Lord will do great things.\par


Now, why are you crying so loud?\par Is your king gone?\par Have you lost your leader?\par You are suffering like a woman\par that is giving birth.\par


The Lord All-Powerful says,\par “At that time, people will sit and talk\par with their friends and neighbors.\par They will invite each other to come sit under the fig trees and grape vines.”\par
