Jeremiah 14:10 - Easy To Read Version

10 This is what the Lord says about the people of Judah: “The people of Judah really love to leave me. Those people don’t stop themselves from leaving me. So now, the Lord will not accept them. Now the Lord will remember the bad things they do. The Lord will punish them for their sins.”

And the woman said to Elijah, “You are a man of God. [194] Can you help me? Or did you come here only to cause me to remember all of my sins? Did you come here only to cause my son to die?”


You keep me off of the wrong path\par every step of the way.\par So I can do what you tell me, Lord.\par


I was patient with those people\par for 40 years.\par And I know that they are not faithful.\par Those people refused to follow my teachings.\par


So now, go down and lead the people where I tell you. My angel will go before you and lead you. When the time comes to punish the people who sinned, then they will be punished.”


It is so easy for you to change your mind.\par Assyria disappointed you,\par \{so you left Assyria\par and went to Egypt for help.\}\par But Egypt will also disappoint you.\par


But you must recognize your sin.\par You turned against the Lord your God.\par That is your sin.\par You worshiped the idols of people\par from other nations.\par You worshiped those idols\par under every green tree.\par You did not obey me.’”\par This message was from the Lord.\par


People will not have to teach their neighbors and relatives to know the Lord. Why? Because all people, from the least important to the greatest, will know me.” This message is from the Lord. “I will forgive them for the bad things they did. I won’t remember their sins.”


\{The Lord says,\}\par “Why do you bring me incense {\cf2\super [43]} \par from the country of Sheba? {\cf2\super [44]} \par Why do you bring me sweet-smelling cane from a far away country?\par Your burnt offerings don’t make\par me happy.\par Your sacrifices don’t please me.”\par


The people of Judah went (lived)\par the wrong way.\par But why do those people of Jerusalem\par continue going the wrong way?\par They believe their own lies.\par They refuse to turn around and come back.\par


And the family of Israel will never again depend on Egypt. The Israelites will remember their sin—they will remember that they turned to Egypt \{for help and not to God\}. And they will know that I am the Lord and Master.”


“My people expect me to come back. They will call to God above. But God will not help them.”


I will not let my terrible anger win.\par I will not destroy Ephraim again.\par I am God, and not man.\par I am the Holy One, I am with you.\par I will not show my anger.\par


It will be bad for them.\par They left me.\par They refused to obey me.\par So they will be destroyed.\par I saved those people.\par But they speak lies against me.\par


Those people don’t believe\par that I will remember their crimes.\par The bad things they did are all around.\par I can see their sins clearly.\par


The Israelites love sacrifices. {\cf2\super [82]} \par They offer the meat and eat it.\par The Lord does not accept their sacrifices.\par He remembers their sins.\par And he will punish them.\par They will be carried as prisoners to Egypt.\par


The Israelites have gone deep into ruin like in the time of Gibeah. {\cf2\super [91]} The Lord will remember the Israelites’ sins. He will punish their sins.


“There are many families on earth. But you are the only family I chose to know in a special way. \{And you turned against me.\} So I will punish you for all your sins.”


Even if you offer me burnt offerings\par and grain offerings,\par I will not accept them!\par I will not even look at the fat animals\par you give as fellowship offerings.\par


And I will forgive the wrong things they do against me,\par and I will not remember their sins.”\par \i (Jeremiah 31:31-34)\i0 \par


The Lord All-Powerful says: ‘When the Israelites came out of Egypt, the Amalekites tried to stop them from going to Canaan. I saw what the Amalekites did.
