Powerful people will become\par weak and hungry.\par But the people that go to God for help\par will have every good thing.\par


“If you listen to the things I say, then you will have the good things from this land.


“The poor and needy people look for water,\par but they can’t find any.\par They are thirsty.\par Their tongues are very dry.\par I will answer their prayers.\par I will not leave them and let them die.\par


I will make rivers flow on dry hills.\par I will make springs of water flow\par through the valleys.\par I will change the desert into a lake\par filled with water.\par There will be springs of water\par in that dry land.\par


But some of the people\par stopped following me.\par Those people have statues\par that are covered with gold.\par They tell those statues,\par ‘You are my gods.’\par Those people trust their false gods.\par But those people will be disappointed!\par


Workers made those gods! And all those workers are people—\{not gods\}. If all of those people would come together \{and discuss these things\}, then they would all be ashamed and afraid.


Some people make statues (false gods)—but they are worthless. People love those statues—but the statues are useless. Those people are the witnesses of the statues—but they can’t see. They know nothing—they don’t know enough to be ashamed \{of the things they do\}.


The people will not be hungry.\par They will not be thirsty.\par The hot sun and wind will not hurt them.\par Why? Because God comforts them\par and God will lead them.\par He will lead them near springs of water.\par


\{The Lord says,\} “My people will be captured and taken away. Why? Because they don’t really know \{me\}. Some of the people living in Israel are important now. They are happy with their easy lives. But all those great people will become very thirsty and very hungry.


“Look, \{you people want to live your own ways\}. You light your own fires and torches (lights). So, \{live your own way\}. But, you will be punished! You will fall into your fires and torches and you will be burned. I will make that happen.”


“In the past other people shamed you and said bad things to you. You were shamed much more than any other people. So in your land you will get two times more than other people. You will get happiness that continues forever.


The person that gathers food will eat it,\par and that person will praise the Lord.\par The person that gathers the grapes,\par will drink the wine \{from those grapes\}.\par All these things will happen\par in my holy land.”\par


You will see the things that you truly enjoy.\par You will be free and grow like grass.\par The Lord’s servants will see his power,\par but the Lord’s enemies will see his anger.\par


You people that obey the Lord’s commands\par should listen to the things\par the Lord says,\par “Your brothers hated you.\par They turned against you\par because you followed me.\par Your brothers said,\par ‘We will come back to you\par when the Lord is honored.\par Then we will be happy with you.’\par Those bad people will be punished.\par


\{If you follow those wrong commands,\} then there will be troubles and hunger in the land. People will become hungry. Then they will become angry and say things against their king and his gods. {\cf2\super [106]} Then they will look up \{to God for help\}.


Judah, the punishment I give\par will come like a storm.\par And it will blow all your shepherds away.\par You thought some of the other nations\par would help you.\par But those nations will also be defeated.\par Then you will really be disappointed.\par You will be ashamed of all the bad things\par that you did.\par


Many of the people that are dead and buried {\cf2\super [133]} will wake up. Some of them will wake up to have life forever. But some will wake up to have shame and disgrace forever.


They will eat, but they will not be satisfied! They will do sexual sins, but they will not have babies. {\cf2\super [36]} Why? Because they left the Lord and became like prostitutes. {\cf2\super [37]}
