Lord, be merciful to us,\par because we have been insulted\par much too long.\par


Listen closely to the message I am telling you.


The Lord says, “The women in Zion {\cf2\super [33]} have become very proud. They walk around with their heads in the air, acting like they are better than other people. Those women flirt with their eyes. And they dance around making noise with their ankle bracelets.”


“The sound of loud crying\par is heard from Zion {\cf2\super [77]} :\par ‘We are truly ruined!\par We are truly ashamed!\par We must leave our land,\par because our houses have been destroyed.\par Now our houses are only piles of rock.’”\par


Now, women of Judah,\par listen to the message from the Lord.\par Listen to the words from the Lord’s mouth.\par \{The Lord says,\}\par “Teach your daughters how to cry loud.\par Each woman must learn to sing\par this funeral song:\par


The people that at one time ate rich food\par now are dying in the streets.\par The people that grew up\par wearing nice red clothes\par now pick through garbage piles.\par


Nineveh is so proud now. It is such a happy city. The people think they are safe. They think Nineveh is the greatest place in the world. But that city will be destroyed! It will be an empty place where only wild animals go to rest. People that pass that place will whistle and shake their heads \{when they see how badly the city was destroyed\}.


You people that hear me, listen!”
