\{The whole country of Moab will suffer because of that pride.\} All the people of Moab will cry. The people will be sad—they will want the things they had in the past. They will want the fig-cakes made in Kir Hareseth. {\cf2\super [169]}


Those people were running from swords\par that were ready to kill.\par They were running from bows\par that were ready to shoot.\par They were running from a hard battle.\par


You ships from Tarshish should go back\par to your country.\par Cross the sea like it is a small river.\par No person will stop you now.\par


The Lord says,\par “Virgin Daughter of Sidon, {\cf2\super [225]} \par you will be destroyed.\par You will not rejoice any more.”\par \{But the people of Tyre say,\}\par “Cyprus {\cf2\super [226]} will help us!”\par But if you cross the sea to Cyprus,\par you will not find a place to rest.\par


They use silver from the city of Tarshish\par and gold from the city of Uphaz\par and make their statues.\par Carpenters and metal-workers make those idols.\par They put blue and purple clothes on those idols.\par “Wise men” make those “gods.”\par


All the people living on the coast\par are shocked about you.\par Their kings are terribly afraid.\par Their faces show their shock.\par


\{Jonah did not want to obey God,\} so Jonah tried to run away from the Lord. Jonah went to Joppa. {\cf2\super [3]} Jonah found a boat that was going to the faraway city of Tarshish. {\cf2\super [4]} Jonah paid money for the trip and went on the boat. Jonah wanted to travel with the people on this boat to Tarshish and run away from the Lord.
