Later, Hoshea sent messengers to the king of Egypt {to ask for help}. That king’s name was So. That year, Hoshea did not pay tribute [199] to the king of Assyria like he did every other year. The king of Assyria learned that Hoshea had made plans against him. So the king of Assyria arrested Hoshea and put him in jail.
The God of Israel made Pul want to go to war. Pul was the king of Assyria. He was also called Tiglath Pileser. He fought against the people from the family groups of Manasseh, Reuben, and Gad.
