Jeroboam sinned. And then Jeroboam made the people of Israel sin. So the Lord will let the people of Israel be defeated.”

Moses said to Aaron, “What did these people do to you? Why did you lead them to do such a bad sin?”

The most important thing is for you to be careful in the things you think. Your thoughts control your life.

What more could I do for my field of grapes?\par I did everything I could.\par I hoped for good grapes to grow.\par But there were only bad grapes.\par Why did that happen?\par

The field of grapes that belongs to the Lord All-Powerful is the nation of Israel. The grapevine—the plant the Lord loves—is the man of Judah. {\cf2\super [48]}

Judah, I planted you like a special vine.\par All of you were like good seed.\par How did you turn into a different vine that grows bad fruit?\par

I have prayed that you will not lose your faith! Help your brothers be stronger when you come back to me.”

So the person that thinks he is standing strong should be careful that he doesn’t fall.

Love never ends. There are \{gifts of\} prophecy, {\cf2\super [94]} but they will be ended. There are \{gifts of speaking in different kinds of\} languages, but those gifts will end. There is \{the gift of\} knowledge, but it will be ended.

Don’t be fooled: “Bad friends will ruin good habits.”

Your proud boasting is not good. You know the saying, “Just a little yeast {\cf2\super [29]} makes the whole batch of dough rise.”

Look closely at yourselves. Test yourselves to see if you are \{living\} in the faith. You know that Christ Jesus is in you. But if you fail the test (are not living in the faith), then Christ is not living in you.

We are workers together with God. So we beg you: Don’t let the grace (kindness) that you received from God be for nothing.

But there must be no sexual sin among you. There must not be any kind of evil or selfishly wanting more and more. Why? Because those things are not right for God’s holy people. {\cf2\super [38]}

Be sure that there is no man, woman, family or family group here today that turns away from the Lord our God. No person should go and serve the gods of the other nations. People who do that are like a plant that grows bitter and poisonous fruit.

Their vines and fields will be destroyed, like Sodom and Gomorrah. [216] Their grapes are like bitter poison.

But you must be careful! Be sure that as long as you live you never forget the things you have seen. You must teach those things to your children and grandchildren.

So put all evil things out of your life: sexual sinning, doing evil, letting evil thoughts control you, wanting things that are evil, and selfishly wanting more and more. This wanting really means to live serving a false god.

To people that are pure, all things are pure. But to people who are full of sin and don’t believe, nothing is pure. Really, those people’s thinking has become evil and their knowledge of what is right has been ruined.

So, brothers and sisters, be careful that none of you is sinful, and refuses to believe, and stops following the living God.

And we still have that promise God gave those people. That promise is that we can enter and have God’s rest. {\cf2\super [22]} So we should be very careful, so that none of you fail to get that promise.

So let us try as hard as we can to enter God’s rest. We must try hard so that none of us will be lost by following the example of those people who refused to obey God.

We have many things to tell you about this. But it is hard to explain because you have stopped trying to understand.

Also remember that we must destroy everything else. Don’t take those things. If you take those things and bring them into our camp then you yourselves will be destroyed. And you will also bring trouble to all the people of Israel.

My brothers and sisters, God called you and chose you to be his. Do your best to live in a way that shows you really are God’s called and chosen people. If you do all those things, you will never fall.

Those false teachers boast with words that mean nothing. They lead people into the trap \{of sin\}. They lead away people who are just beginning to come away from other people who live wrong. Those false teachers do this by using the evil things people want to do in their sinful selves.

In that way everything will be destroyed like I told you. So what kind of people should you be? You should live holy {\cf2\super [14]} lives and do things to serve God.

Dear friends, we are waiting for this to happen. So try as hard as you can to be without sin and without fault. Try to be at peace with God.
