9 They came to the place where God told them to go. There, Abraham built an altar. [123] Abraham laid the wood on the altar. Then Abraham tied his son Isaac. Abraham laid Isaac on the altar on the wood.

The Lord appeared [72] to Abram. The Lord said, “I will give this land to your descendants.”


Then Abram left that place and traveled to the mountains east of Bethel. Abram set up his tent there. The city of Bethel was to the west. The city of Ai was to the east. At that place Abram built another altar to the Lord. And Abram worshiped the Lord there.


So Abram moved his tents. He went to live near Mamre’s big trees. This was near the city of Hebron. At that place Abram built an altar [78] for worshiping the Lord.


Then Abraham took his knife and prepared to kill his son.


Abraham answered, “God himself is providing the lamb for the sacrifice, [122] my son.”


Then Noah built an altar [55] to the Lord. Noah took some of all the clean birds and some of all the clean animals, [56] and Noah burned them on the altar as a gift to God.


Then Elijah put the wood on the altar. He cut the bull into pieces. He laid the pieces on the wood.


The Lord is God.\par And he accepts us.\par Tie up the lamb for the sacrifice {\cf2\super [583]} \par \{and carry it\} to the horns of the altar.” {\cf2\super [584]} \par


They tied Jesus with chains. Then they led him to Pilate the governor. They gave Jesus to Pilate.


Very early in the morning, the leading priests, the older Jewish leaders, the teachers of the law, and all the Jewish council decided what to do with Jesus. They tied Jesus and led him to Pilate, \{the governor\}. They gave Jesus to Pilate.


The part of Scripture {\cf2\super [177]} that he was reading was this:


The law put a curse on us. But Christ took away that curse. He changed places with us. Christ put himself under that curse. The Scriptures say, “When a person’s body is put (hung) on a tree, {\cf2\super [32]} that person is under a curse.” {\cf2\super [33]}


Live a life of love. Love other people the same as Christ loved us. Christ gave himself for us—he was a sweet-smelling offering and sacrifice {\cf2\super [37]} to God.


So Christ was offered as a sacrifice one time to take away the sins of many people. And Christ will come a second time, but not for people’s sin. Christ will come the second time to bring salvation to those people who are waiting for him.


Abraham {\cf2\super [10]} is our father {\cf2\super [11]} . Abraham was made right with God by the things he did. He offered (gave) his son Isaac to God on the altar. {\cf2\super [12]}


Christ carried our sins in his body on the cross. He did this so that we would stop living for sin and live for what is right. By his (Christ’s) wounds you were healed.
