God heard the boy crying. And God’s angel called to Hagar from heaven. He said, “What is wrong, Hagar? Don’t be afraid! The Lord has heard the boy crying there.


While Joseph was in the well, the brothers sat down to eat. Then they looked and saw a group of traders [226] traveling from Gilead to Egypt. Their camels were carrying many different spices and riches.

But the angel said to him, “Zechariah, don’t be afraid. Your prayer has been heard by God. Your wife, Elizabeth, will give birth to a baby boy. You must name him John.


Listen! You will become pregnant. You will give birth to a baby boy. And you will name him Jesus.


Zechariah asked for something to write on. Then Zechariah wrote, “His name is John.” All the people were surprised.


By that time the following year, Hannah had become pregnant and had a son. Hannah named her son Samuel. [11] She said, “His name is Samuel because I asked the Lord for him.”
