Moses called to the Lord. So the Lord showed him a tree. Moses put the tree in the water. When he did this, the water became good to drink.


The dry desert will become very happy. The desert will be glad and will grow like a flower.


Crippled people will dance like deer. And the people that can’t talk now will use their voices to sing happy songs. This will happen when springs of water begin flowing in the desert. Springs will flow in the dry land.


Now people see mirages {\cf2\super [331]} \{that look like water\}. But at that time there will be real pools of water. There will be wells in the dry land. Water will flow from the ground. Tall water plants will grow where wild animals once ruled.


Even the wild animals will be thankful to me. The large animals and birds will honor me. They will honor me when I put water in the desert. They will honor me when I make rivers in the dry land. I will do this to give water to my people—the people I chose.


You will tell the prisoners,\par ‘Come out of your prison!’\par You will tell the people that are in darkness,\par ‘Come out of the dark!’\par The people will eat while traveling.\par They will have food even on empty hills.\par


Those people will come back crying.\par But I will lead them and comfort them.\par I will lead those people by streams of water.\par I will lead them on an easy road,\par so that they will not stumble.\par I will lead them in that way\par because I am Israel’s father.\par And Ephraim {\cf2\super [250]} is my firstborn son.\par


“People all around the world respect my name. All around the world people bring good gifts to me. They burn good incense {\cf2\super [7]} as a gift to me. Why? Because my name is important to all those people.” The Lord All-Powerful said these things.


Yes, the minds of these people\par (the Jews) are now closed.\par They have ears,\par but they don’t listen.\par And they refuse to see \{the truth\}.\par If their minds were not closed,\par they might see with their eyes;\par they might hear with their ears;\par they might understand with their minds.\par Then they might turn back to me and be healed.\par \i (Isaiah 6:9-10)\i0 \par


The Jordan River near the desert is their western border. Lake Galilee [16] is north of this area and the Dead Sea [17] (the Salt Sea) is to the south. It is at the bottom of the cliffs of Pisgah. They are to the east.


This land also included the whole Jordan Valley on the east side of the Jordan River. To the south, this land reached to the Dead Sea. [23] To the east, it reached to the foot of Mount Pisgah.)


And immediately, the water stopped flowing. {The water filled behind that place like a dam.} The water piled high a long way up the river—all the way to Adam (a town near Zarethan). The people crossed the river near Jericho.
