Ezekiel 40:1 - Easy To Read Version

1 In the twenty-fifth year after we were taken away into captivity, at the beginning of the year (October), on the tenth day of the month {\cf2\super [306]} the Lord’s power came on me. This was fourteen years after the Babylonians took Jerusalem. On that day, the Lord took me there \{in a vision\}.

This command is for the whole community of Israel: On the tenth day of this month each person must get one lamb for the people in his house.


After 430 years, to the very day, all the armies of the Lord [76] left Egypt.


“On the first day of the first month, set up the Holy Tent, [481] that is, the Meeting Tent.


On the first day of the first month (April) in the twenty-seventh year \{of exile\}, {\cf2\super [243]} the word of the Lord came to me. He said,


The wind {\cf2\super [25]} lifted me and took me away. I left that place. I was very sad and upset in my spirit. {\cf2\super [26]} But I felt Lord’s power in me!


The Lord’s power came to me. He said to me, “Get up and go to the valley. {\cf2\super [30]} I will speak to you in that place.”


On the first day of the twelfth month (March) in the twelfth year \{of exile\}, {\cf2\super [258]} the word of the Lord came to me. He said,


On the fifteenth day of that month, in the twelfth year \{of exile\}, {\cf2\super [261]} the word of the Lord came to me. He said,


On the fifth day of the tenth month (January) in the twelfth year \{of exile\}, {\cf2\super [269]} a person came to me from Jerusalem. He had escaped from the battle there. He said, “The city (Jerusalem) has been taken!”


The Lord’s power came on me. The Spirit {\cf2\super [285]} of the Lord carried me \{out of the city\} and put me down in the middle of the valley. {\cf2\super [286]} The valley was full of dead men’s bones.


One day I (Ezekiel) was sitting in my house, and the elders (leaders) of Judah were sitting there in front of me. This was on the fifth day of the sixth month (September) of the sixth year \{of exile\}. {\cf2\super [58]} Suddenly, the power of the Lord my Master came on me.


On the Lord’s day the Spirit {\cf2\super [9]} took control of me. I heard a loud voice behind me. It sounded like a trumpet.
